The short answer

Prices and availability checked on Amazon.in · Last updated

Cracked heels are an Indian winter tradition nobody asked for. Dry north Indian air, hours barefoot on cold stone floors, open-back chappals that let the heel spread with every step, and hard water at bath time all pull moisture out of the thickest skin on the body. By December the edges turn white and hard, then split, and the deeper cracks catch on bedsheets and sting.

Foot creams on Amazon.in fall into two camps: urea creams that chemically soften hard skin, and herbal or Ayurvedic creams that mostly moisturise and soothe. Both work; they suit different heels. This guide explains which kind you need, picks the creams Indian buyers rate best in each camp, and gives the simple routine that makes any of them work faster.

Key ingredient to know: urea, and its percentage

The honest take

If your heels are hard, thick and cracked, a urea cream works faster than a herbal one, because it softens the hard skin rather than just coating it. Be Bodywise's 20% roll-on is the one owners keep calling a life saver. If your heels are only dry and rough, a cheap Himalaya tube is enough.

No cream fixes cracks if the habits that cause them continue. Wear closed-back footwear at home, moisturise every night, and do not cut hard skin with a blade.

Urea percentage, explained

Urea is a natural part of the skin's own moisturising system, and in creams it does two jobs depending on strength. At low strengths it draws water into the skin and holds it there. At higher strengths it also loosens the bonds between dead skin cells, so thick, hard skin softens and sheds. Lactic acid, often paired with it, is a mild exfoliating acid that helps the same process.

Urea strength

What it mainly does

Good for

Up to 10%

Moisturises and holds water in the skin

Dry, rough feet with no thick skin

15 to 25%

Moisturises and softens hard skin

Typical cracked heels with a hard rim

30% and above

Strongly softens thick, hardened skin

Very thick heels and calluses, for short periods

Higher is not automatically better. Strong urea creams can sting in open cracks and are not meant for broken or infected skin. Start with 15 to 20 per cent, and use a 30 per cent product only on thick, unbroken skin until it softens.

Myth vs fact

Myth: Herbal creams are always gentler.
Fact: Many herbal foot creams use clove, peppermint or camphor, which can sting cracked skin. "Natural" is not the same as "mild".

Myth: Scraping or cutting hard skin speeds up healing.
Fact: Cutting with a blade risks infection and the skin often grows back thicker. Soften it with cream and use a pumice stone gently.

Myth: Vaseline alone is enough.
Fact: Petroleum jelly is a good seal over a cream at night, but it does not soften thick skin the way urea does.

Be Bodywise's roll-on combines 20 per cent urea with 2 per cent lactic acid, plus olive oil and vitamin E, according to the listing. The roll-on format is the clever part: you apply it straight to the heel without getting cream on your hands, which makes twice-a-day use far more likely.

Amazon's review summary says customers find it effective, with results within four or five applications, and that it works particularly well on dry, cracked heels, leaving feet feeling like they have had a pedicure.

The owner reviews are unusually detailed. One, writing after about six weeks, says it outperformed famous crack creams they had tried. Another, a week in, says their cracks are about 90 per cent better after nothing else had worked. If your heels are very thick, the brand also sells a 30% urea and 5% lactic acid version with 4.5 stars, which is better kept for hard, unbroken skin.

  • Works where other crack creams did not
  • Easy roll-on; absorbs quickly with a pleasant smell

Why it made the cut

Fixderma's cream lists 15 per cent urea, 5 per cent lactic acid and 3 per cent glycerine, along with allantoin and menthol. The listing stresses that it is non-greasy and absorbs immediately, so you can put socks on straight after. Directions are to wash feet in lukewarm water, pat dry, and apply twice a day.

Amazon's review summary says customers find it effective at softening skin and reducing cracks, with significant improvement within days. The fragrance gets mixed reactions.

Several reviews come from people buying for their mothers: one is on a second purchase, another applied it for six weeks and says it smoothed their mother's cracks. A three-star review calls it a bit costly, though it is cheaper than most urea roll-ons.

Himalaya's foot care cream has been around for years and is the cheapest cream on this list. The listing simply says it heals cracked heels, moisturises and softens feet, and that it is made in India.

Amazon's review summary says customers find it effective, with results within about 10 days and cracked heels healing within a week for some, and like its texture and pleasant fragrance.

One owner saw a visible change after one application; another praises it as more affordable and effective than other brands. A thoughtful three-star review from someone with large cracks, who walks barefoot to the temple several times a day, says two days of use was not enough, which is fair: for deep cracks and daily barefoot walking, pair it with socks at night or move up to a urea cream.

What owners keep saying

  • Softens feet and fades light cracks
  • Pleasant fragrance, nice texture
  • Slower on large, deep cracks

Why it made the cut

  • Cheapest on the list
  • Huge review base

Moha's cream is an Ayurvedic blend of aloe vera to moisturise, papaya to gently exfoliate, kapurkachri and peppermint oil for a cooling feel, according to the listing. The brand quotes its own user survey, with 90 per cent reporting instant cooling and visible results in seven days; treat those as the brand's figures.

Amazon's review summary says customers find it effective from the first application, that it clears cracked heels within a week, and that feet feel soft as satin.

Owners repeatedly mention the fragrance and the cooling feel, and some report cracks improving in two days. It is the one to choose if your heels are dry and your feet ache after a long day standing in the kitchen or at work.

Fixderma Foobetik foot cream for dry and cracked feet

4.2★ from 6,200+ ratings on Amazon.in · 400+ bought in the past month

Buy it if: your whole sole is very dry, not just the heels, or you want a cream made with diabetic feet in mind.

Skip it if: you have diabetes and an open crack or sore; see a doctor before using any cream.

See price and offers on Amazon.in

Foobetik is Fixderma's foot cream for very dry feet, and the listing says it is formulated with people with diabetes in mind. Key ingredients include L-arginine, lactic acid, apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, urea and shea butter, in a non-greasy base meant for daily, whole-foot use.

Amazon's review summary says customers find it effective, especially for cracked heels, with visible results within three days, and like that it softens feet and soothes discomfort.

One owner with very dry feet says a week of use healed almost all their cracks. Another, using it every other day for a month with a foot scrubber, says it keeps dead skin soft. A three-star reviewer found results unimpressive, so expect a gentler effect than a 20 per cent urea product.

What owners keep saying

  • Visible softening within days
  • Good for overall dry soles
  • Some find results modest

Why it made the cut

  • Whole-foot daily moisturiser
  • Urea and lactic acid

A 10-minute nightly routine for cracked heels

  1. Soak your feet in lukewarm water for 5 to 10 minutes. Not hot; hot water dries skin out further.
  2. Rub gently with a wet pumice stone or foot file, a few strokes on the hard rim only. Stop before it feels sore.
  3. Pat dry, including between the toes.
  4. Apply the cream generously to the heels and edges and massage it in.
  5. Seal it in with a thin layer of petroleum jelly if your heels are very dry, then wear clean cotton socks to bed.
  6. Repeat every night for two weeks, then two or three times a week to keep heels soft.

Habits that stop cracks coming back

  • Wear soft, closed-back slippers at home, especially on cold marble or tile floors.
  • Avoid thin, open-back chappals for long walks; the heel spreads sideways with every step.
  • Moisturise feet straight after your bath, while the skin is still slightly damp.
  • Drink enough water in winter; dry indoor air pulls moisture from skin.

See a doctor if cracks bleed, become red, swollen, hot or painful, or if you have diabetes, poor circulation or numbness in the feet. In those cases, cracked heels can become infected without much warning.

These appear high in Amazon.in results. Each was left out for a specific reason from its listing or review summary on 2 October 2026.

Product

Why it is not on the list

O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet and Dr. Scholl's Heel Balm

Both show huge rating counts that appear to come largely from overseas buyers, with only modest sales on Amazon.in, and they are imported at a higher price than Indian urea creams with similar ingredients.

Oriflame Feet Up Advanced Cracked Heel Cream

Well rated at 4.4 stars, but the listing gives almost no ingredient information, so we could not say what it does differently.

Vilvah Foot Cream

Popular and pleasant to use, but a three-star owner review says it smooths the skin without healing cracks, and the feet turn rough again within a day.

Aaranyaa 17% Urea Foot Cream

A sensible 17% urea formula, but at least one of its top reviews describes a hand cream, so we could not be sure all its ratings belong to this product.

How we picked: We searched Amazon.in for foot creams for cracked heels, went through about 130 listings, and shortlisted creams with a meaningful base of Indian ratings and clear ingredient information. For each, we read the listing, the review summary and recent owner reviews, and confirmed it was in stock with Add to Cart available on 2 October 2026. We did not test these products ourselves. Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the best foot cream for cracked heels in India?
For hard, cracked heels, the Be Bodywise 20% Urea Foot Cream Roll-On, which has 4.4 stars from more than 2,800 ratings. For dry heels without thick skin, Himalaya Foot Care Cream is a cheap, well-rated option.
What percentage of urea is best for cracked heels?
round 15 to 25 per cent suits most cracked heels, because it both moisturises and softens hard skin. Up to 10 per cent mainly moisturises; 30 per cent and above is for very thick, unbroken skin.
How long do cracked heels take to heal?
With a nightly routine and a good cream, light cracks usually improve within a few days and most heels look much better in one to two weeks. Deep cracks take longer.
Should I wear socks after applying foot cream?
Yes, at night. Cotton socks keep the cream on your heels instead of the bedsheet and help it work overnight.
Why do my heels crack every winter?
Cold, dry air, hot baths, walking barefoot on hard floors and open-back footwear all dry out and stretch the heel skin. Daily moisturising and closed-back slippers at home help prevent it.
Can people with diabetes use foot cream for cracked heels?
Moisturising dry feet is part of diabetic foot care, but people with diabetes should not put creams into open cracks or sores, and should have any crack, redness or numbness checked by a doctor.

The verdict

For heels that are hard and cracked, Be Bodywise 20% Urea Roll-On is the one to buy, with Fixderma 15% Urea as the better-value tube. If your feet are simply dry, Himalaya is enough, Moha adds cooling for tired feet, and Foobetik suits very dry soles.

Whichever you choose, the nightly soak, cream and socks routine matters as much as the tube. For a warmer winter at home, see our hot water bag guide.

How we researched this guide

These picks come from desk research, not hands-on testing. We compare published specifications against others in the same price band, read through verified buyer reviews for problems that repeat rather than one-off complaints, and check the current Amazon.in price to judge value. Products are scored on the same three factors every time — specifications (40%), buyer sentiment (40%) and value for money (20%).

We have not physically tested these products, and we say so rather than implying otherwise. Where a claim about safety, certification, battery behaviour or warranty appears in this guide, it comes from the manufacturer’s own documentation or the retailer’s listing — we do not verify manufacturer claims independently.
