This review after more than 1+ year usage also comparing to local brands and disspells some wrong information and perception as well. Please read carefully.I bought this because I am asthmatic and my 2 year old daughter always has a runny nose at night because of the pollution and humidity in winter in Bangalore. She used to get up at night and cry because of blocked nose. Make her sit upright, apply Vicks, sing lullabys, tell stories, both me and my daughter were not having any decent sleep. This dehumidifier really really helped us a lot. Though my wife was initially angry I spent 30K now she is appreciative that it was money well spent.Wrong Perception of Hot Air:Firstly one needs to understand that a dehumidifier by the way of its working takes in existing air removes moisture out of it and emits warm air. Air becomes warm by the technology of its working and it's true for every dehumidifier of any brand. So one needs to understand that aspect before going for a dehumidifier. In Bangalore where I use it, it's generally cold from the rainy season till the end of winter, that's is roughly from July starting to January ending. During this time humidity goes up reaching to 90+. Since it's already cold, warm air by the dehumidifier doesn't matter so much. During summer we don't need to use it as humidity is low. But in a place like Chennai where it's very hot and humid dehumidifier will make the room further hot. Though it will remove the sticky moisture the room may get uncomfortably hot. This is true for any brand. So for there you should look for other solutions, like an AC with dehumidifier option.Wrong Information of no Humidity Level Control:Some reviews are claiming there is no humidity level control, but that's wrong. We can set the humity level from 40 to 60 in levels of 5, that is we can configure it for 40, 45, 50, 55 or 60. Please note that for humans 40 to 60 is the recommended humidity level by medical science. By default it configured for 55 and it maintains the room at 55 exactly. Verified using another hygrometer.General information: I am not sure why this is not obvious for some people but the room needs to be closed, just like an AC.PROs:Very good HEPA filter, active carbon filter and particle filter are given at no extra cost. HEPA and carbon filter life span is 5 years and replacement is 5K. It's not compulsory to replace them though, parcel filter which can be cleaned is enough for dehumidify option. If you want to use it as air purifier then yes, but it works really good for something given as an add-on. I have a coway air purifier, works almost on par to it. It can also work only as a dehumidifier or airpurifier or both. This is very good.I have seen multiple local Indian brands. They are all Generic models from China stamped with Indian Brand Name. They have empty holes in them for fixing HEPA filter or carbon filter but you have to buy them separately for 5400 Rupees, I enquired about it. In the product page they say it has ability to purify air with HEPA filter but don't mention that they don't provide by default, which I think is intentional misleading. Also when I asked which brand of filter do they provide, of what standard they could not answer. Atlast one guy gave me an honest answer that it's generic Chinese stuff, no specific brand, all are alike and the hole in that dehumidifier can fit any filter you put in it, it's not really sized for any specific filter. For example if you buy a carbon filter for it, if it's a bit large you should cut and fit it. The specific local brand I enquired for a model similar to this in capacity is 28K in price and this is 30K in price. Seemed like a no brainer to me on which to choose.1. Very good display with all options displayed and very accurate humidity measurements.2. The display automatically turns off of the lights are turned off.3. Simple child lock function present with long press of a button.4. Horizontal and vertical swing options are present.5. Humidity level is configurable in steps of 5 from 40 to 60.6. You can set it for continuous drainage attaching a pipe or let it collect in the container.7. The contrainer has a transparent bar which lets you see how full it it. PIC ATTACHED.8. Once container is full it will auto cut off.9. Has mold control, auto timed off, turbo mode and a bunch of other options.10. It's not made in China.11. Warranty and Service of Sharp so it's a big relief. Unlike local brands which will ask you to send it back to Uttar Pradesh or somewhere on own expense this is far better.CON:Container capacity is only 4 litres, but enough for the capacity of the dehumidifier and the size of the room it's meant for. Only 2 times it became full at peak winter when humidity reached 98 that too at 5 in the morning. So its all good but a little more would have been good not that it really matters.Please note this dehumidifier model is for a medium size bedroom. If you have a bigger room you will need a bigger capacity dehumidifier and there are models in sharp of bigger capacity.Careful design: Some small areas where extra attention is paid, not normally noticed. There is mesh below the exhaust vent so that even if someone drops something it won't go inside. My kid dropped a nano car, one third the size of a finger in it but the mesh caught it. That's when I realized such a mesh was there. I don't know ifevery dehumidifier has one but this got me pleasently by surprise.For large appliances good brands and models really matter.
