Best Furniture Polish for Wooden Furniture in India (2026)
Every October the same bottle comes out of the cupboard, and every year the dining table ends up either greasy or no shinier than before. Usually the polish is not the problem; it is the wrong kind of polish for the furniture. A laminate wardrobe, a veneered TV unit and a solid sheesham dining table need three different things.
For this guide we went through about 110 furniture polish, wax and wood-care listings on Amazon.in, kept the ones in stock on 28 September 2026 with enough ratings to judge, and read their review summaries and owner reviews. Much of the category is small-brand beeswax sprays with a handful of ratings and very mixed feedback, and we left those out.
The four picks cover everyday dusting and shine, feeding dry solid wood, and reviving a tired finish on doors and old furniture.
Top picks at a glance
Best overall for everyday polishing: Pledge Wood Polish Spray, Classic (250 ml) — Cleans dust and fingerprints and adds shine on wood and laminate; 4.0 stars from nearly 4,000.
Best for solid wood and antiques: Howard Feed-N-Wax (236 ml) — Beeswax, carnauba wax and orange oil for dry, tired wood; 4.7 stars from 5,700+.
Best for reviving dull doors and old finishes: Berger Wood Keeper 1K PU Polish (500 g) — A do-it-yourself polyurethane coat in gloss or matt; 4.3 stars.
Best budget spray: Waxpol Furniture Polish Restorer (200 ml) — A long-standing Indian spray that restores shine without stripping the finish; 3.9 stars from 3,500+.
The honest take
For wardrobes, beds, TV units and anything laminated, a spray like Pledge and a soft cloth is all you need. Save wax for solid wood that looks dry, and save Berger Wood Keeper for doors and furniture whose finish has actually worn through. None of these fix deep scratches, peeling veneer or bare patches; those are jobs for a carpenter or a polish-wala.
How to choose
Laminate, veneer or solid wood?
Most modern Indian furniture, including modular wardrobes, kitchen shutters, beds and TV units, is laminate or a thin wood veneer over plywood or MDF. Laminate is a plastic sheet: it needs cleaning and a light shine, not wax, which just sits on top and smears. Solid wood such as sheesham, teak, mango or old rosewood is common in dining sets, doors and inherited furniture, and benefits from occasional waxing. If the grain pattern repeats exactly or the edges have a separate strip glued on, it is probably laminate or veneer.
Polish, wax or a new finish?
Spray polishes clean and leave a thin shine; use them every week or two. Waxes like Feed-N-Wax feed and protect solid wood every few months. Berger Wood Keeper is something else again: a polyurethane coating that adds a fresh layer of finish, closer to what a professional polisher does than to dusting.
Less is more
Heavy, frequent use of any polish builds up into a dull, smeary layer that collects dust. Use a little, buff it off properly, and once or twice a year wipe the furniture with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap before polishing again.
Think about the smell
Spray polishes and waxes smell mild. Coatings do not: owners of Berger Wood Keeper say its smell lingers for about three days, so coat doors and furniture with the windows open and well before guests arrive.

Pledge Wood Polish Spray, Classic (250 ml)
The verdict
The easiest way to keep everyday furniture clean and shiny, whatever it is made of.
Pledge is the polish most people picture, and the Classic spray is the one we would keep in the cleaning cupboard. The listing describes an oil-based formula that removes dust, fingerprints and smudges, leaves a natural glossy shine, helps protect against dust and moisture, and suits all wooden surfaces, furniture and laminates. It is free from ammonia, chlorine and acid, according to the listing. The 250 ml can has a 4.0-star average from nearly 4,000 ratings, with more than 500 bought in the past month.
Amazon's review summary says customers find it effective and easy to use, like the fresh smell, and get a lasting shine without wax residue; one says it makes furniture look like new. Another owner describes a lemony scent and says it does exactly what it claims, cleaning and shining wooden surfaces.
The most common complaint is the nozzle: several owners say the spray mechanism gives trouble, and one says it cannot do short bursts and gets liquid on your hand. Another rates it a very good cleaner but not much of a polish, so do not expect it to hide scratches.
Type | Spray cleaner and polish |
|---|---|
Surfaces (listing) | Wood, furniture, laminates |

Works on laminate as well as wood
Cleans and polishes in one step
Consistent results across thousands of owners
Cons

Cleans more than it polishes, say some owners
Best for: Weekly care of wardrobes, beds, tables, TV units and doors.
Skip it if: Dry, unsealed solid wood that needs feeding; use a wax instead.

Howard Feed-N-Wax (236 ml)
The verdict
The best-rated wood-care product we found, and the one that makes old wood look alive again.
Howard is an American wood-care brand, and Feed-N-Wax is its best-known product. The listing describes a blend of beeswax, carnauba wax and orange oil that polishes wood to a soft lustre, brings out the grain in finished and unfinished wood, and helps stop wood finishes drying out and cracking. It is meant for antiques, dining tables, kitchen cabinets, doors and trim. It has a 4.7-star average from more than 5,700 ratings, including many from buyers abroad, and is sold on Amazon.in as an import.
Amazon's review summary says customers find it works well, lasts a long time and gives a lustrous glow that brings wood back to life; one used it on a 120-year-old sofa. Indian owners describe a natural smell with no chemical odour and call it very good for refreshing wooden furniture. One owner was quoted two days of work by a local polisher for their front door, did it themselves with Feed-N-Wax instead, and says the door has a new look.
It costs several times more than an Indian spray polish, though a little goes a long way. It darkens some woods slightly, which one owner noticed on cherry. Do not use it on laminate: wax cannot soak into plastic and just smears.

Best for: Solid wood dining tables, doors, antiques and inherited furniture.

Berger Wood Keeper 1K PU Polish (500 g)
The verdict
For furniture and doors whose finish has worn away: a fresh coat you can apply yourself.
Berger's Wood Keeper is not a polish in the dusting sense. It is a one-component polyurethane coating, sold in gloss and matt, that forms a durable protective layer over wood and, according to the listing, refreshes aged surfaces by reducing the look of minor scratches, stains and dull patches. The listing suggests it for furniture, doors, windows, cabinets and panels, indoors and out, and gives coverage of 200 to 250 square feet. It has a 4.3-star average from more than 540 ratings, with more than 200 bought in the past month.
Amazon's review summary says customers find it gives a good finish, is easy to apply with good coverage, and works on old doors; one says it keeps furniture looking new. Owners describe a glossy finish and call it easy to apply.
The smell is the catch: the review summary says it stays noticeable for at least three days, so work with the windows open and finish well before Diwali, not the night before. Clean the surface thoroughly first, because a coating seals in whatever dust and grease is underneath. One owner found delivery slow, so order early.
Type | 1K polyurethane coating |
|---|---|
Finish | Gloss or matt |
Coverage (listing) | 200 to 250 sq ft |
Pack | 500 g |
Rating | 4.3 stars (540+) |
Pros
Restores a worn finish without hiring a polisher
Gloss and matt versions
Good coverage per pack
Cons
Strong smell lingers for days
Needs careful surface preparation
Best for: Main doors, window frames and old furniture with dull, worn patches.
Skip it if: You just want a weekly shine, or the furniture is laminate.

Waxpol Furniture Polish Restorer (200 ml)
The verdict
A familiar Indian spray for less money, with modest but real results.
Waxpol is an old Indian polish brand, and its Furniture Polish Restorer is the budget alternative to Pledge. The listing says it restores the original look and shine of any colour of wood without stripping or dissolving the finish, protects against water, dust and UV, is not greasy so it does not attract dust, and is solvent free. It comes in a 200 ml spray with a 3.9-star average from more than 3,500 ratings, and more than 600 were bought in the past month.
Amazon's review summary says customers find it restores shine, makes wooden surfaces look new and is easy to apply. One owner who polished their own furniture instead of hiring a polisher says to wipe the surface with a wet cloth, let it dry, then spray and wipe.
For some owners the result is a normal look rather than a real shine, and the summary notes that it does not remove scratches. One says the creamy liquid clogged the spray, and another reports it removed the paint colour, so test it on a hidden spot first. One buyer switched back to Pledge.
Type | Spray restorer |
|---|---|
Formula (listing) | Solvent free, non-greasy |
Surfaces (listing) | Wood furniture, cabinets, wardrobes, doors |
Size | 200 ml |
Rating | 3.9 stars (3,500+) |
Pros
Made in India and widely available
Non-greasy, per the listing
Simple spray-and-wipe use
Cons
Modest shine for some owners
Spray and finish complaints from a few
Best for: Budget touch-ups on wooden furniture.
Skip it if: You want the most reliable spray; Pledge is better reviewed.

How to polish wooden furniture at home
Dust with a dry microfibre cloth first; polishing over grit scratches the finish.
Wipe sticky spots with a cloth barely damp with water and a drop of mild dish soap, then dry the surface.
Test the polish on a hidden spot, such as the back of a leg or the inside of a door.
Spray onto the cloth rather than the furniture, and work along the grain in small sections.
Buff with a second clean, dry cloth until the surface no longer feels oily.
For wax, apply a thin coat, leave it for about 20 minutes, then buff. Two thin coats beat one thick one.
You need at least two soft cloths, one to apply and one to buff; a pack such as SOFTSPUN's ten microfibre cloths covers dusting, polishing and the rest of the Diwali clean.
Fixing common problems
White rings and cloudy marks
A white ring from a hot cup or a wet glass is usually moisture trapped in the top of the finish, not a stain in the wood. It often fades if you warm it gently with a hair dryer on low, held a little away, while rubbing lightly with a soft cloth. Dark or black rings have reached the wood and need a carpenter.
Sticky, smeary furniture
Too much polish, too often. Clean it off with a damp cloth and mild soap, dry thoroughly, then polish lightly once and buff well.
Scratches
Polish hides very fine scratches at best. Small nicks in solid wood take a wax filler stick or a touch-up marker in the right shade; deep scratches and peeling veneer need a professional.
Fine powder under tiny holes
That is a sign of borers or termites, which no polish treats. Call a pest control service before you polish or refinish.
A one-weekend Diwali furniture refresh
At least a week before: coat worn doors and old furniture with Wood Keeper so the smell has gone.
Saturday morning: dust everything, and clean sticky kitchen and dining surfaces.
Saturday afternoon: spray-polish wardrobes, beds and TV units.
Sunday: wax the dining table and any other solid wood pieces.

Popular polishes we left out, and why
These appear in Amazon.in results for furniture polish and wood care. Each was left out for a specific reason from its listing or review summary on 28 September 2026.
Product | Why it is not on the list |
|---|---|
Furniture Clinic Natural Oak Beeswax Polish | Well rated at 4.4 stars, but it could not be bought on the day we checked, and its review summary mentions colour and residue complaints. |
Howard Restor-A-Finish | Designed to blend out scratches and fading, but its review summary is split between excellent results and furniture that looks worse afterwards. |
Guardsman Wood Filler Sticks | Useful for nicks in theory, but the review summary is mixed on whether they work and on colour matching, and many buyers feel they are not worth the money. |
QONETIC Beeswax Furniture Polish | Cheap and popular, but 3.8 stars and a summary where some owners say it works and others call it a waste of money. |
Gleema Wood and Furniture Cleaner | Promising, with 4.4 stars and more than 1,000 bought in the past month, but only 76 ratings so far. Worth watching. |
Small-brand beeswax polish sprays | Dozens of near-identical listings, most with fewer than 50 ratings and many below 3 stars. |
How we picked: We read about 110 Amazon.in listings for furniture polishes, wood waxes and wood-care products, kept those in stock with Add to Cart available on 28 September 2026 and with enough ratings to judge, and read each one's review summary and recent owner reviews. We did not test these products ourselves; the picks reflect listing details and what verified buyers report.

Can I use furniture polish on laminate?
Yes, a spray polish like Pledge, whose listing says it suits laminates. Avoid wax on laminate; it cannot soak in and leaves smears.
How often should wooden furniture be polished?
Dust weekly, use a spray polish every week or two on busy surfaces, and wax solid wood every three to six months.
Is coconut oil good for polishing wood?
Kitchen oils such as coconut or olive oil soak in unevenly and can turn sticky or rancid over time. A proper wax or furniture polish is a better choice.

Warm the mark gently with a hair dryer on low while rubbing lightly with a soft cloth. White marks are usually trapped moisture and fade; dark marks have reached the wood and need a carpenter.
What is the difference between wood polish and PU polish?
Wood polish and wax are maintenance layers you reapply. PU is a hard protective finish; professionals usually spray it after sanding, while Berger Wood Keeper is a do-it-yourself version for refreshing worn surfaces.
The verdict
For most homes, Pledge Wood Polish Spray is the best furniture polish: it works on wood and laminate, cleans and shines in one step, and is the easiest to live with. Add Howard Feed-N-Wax for any solid wood that looks dry, and use Berger Wood Keeper on doors and furniture whose finish has worn through.
Whatever you use, apply less than you think and buff it off properly. Most dull, sticky furniture has had too much polish, not too little.
